CHAKME Diatomite Stone Bath Mat — Ultra-Thin Quick-Dry, Non-Slip, Botanical Print (Blue Leaf, 5 Sizes)
A diatomite stone bath mat — which works on an entirely different principle to a fabric bath mat. Diatomite is a naturally porous mineral material: when you step onto it with wet feet, the surface moisture is instantly absorbed into the thousands of microscopic pores in the stone rather than sitting on top or being held in fibres. The result is a surface that feels dry within seconds of use and that fully evaporates moisture within minutes — without needing to be hung up or put through a wash cycle. The ultra-thin rigid slab sits completely flat on the floor with a non-slip backing, and the printed blue watercolour botanical design (leaf and petal pattern on a white base with teal and gold-green dot accents) gives it a decorative quality that most bath mats don’t have. Available in five sizes from 16×24” up to 24×60” to suit everything from a small shower exit to a full-length bath runner. Select your size from the variant options.
Why Diatomite? How It Compares to Fabric
Instant absorption: Fabric bath mats absorb water into fibres and stay damp for hours; diatomite absorbs moisture into its porous stone structure and releases it through evaporation within minutes — the mat is dry and ready for the next use far faster
No mould or mildew risk: Because it dries so quickly, diatomite does not stay damp long enough for mould or mildew to develop; fabric mats left damp on bathroom floors are a common source of bathroom mould
No washing required: Fabric mats need regular machine washing; diatomite can be wiped clean with a damp cloth; if absorption slows over time, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper to reopen the pores
Stays flat: The rigid stone slab does not bunch, wrinkle or curl at the edges the way fabric mats do over time
Heavier than fabric: Diatomite stone is substantially heavier than a fabric mat of the same size; this contributes to its stability but means it is not foldable or rollable
Key Features
Diatomite stone construction — ultra-thin rigid stone slab with a porous mineral surface that instantly absorbs and rapidly evaporates moisture; the flat slab profile is noticeably thinner than most bath mats, making it ideal for bathrooms where a door swings over the floor and a thicker mat would catch
Instant quick-dry performance — the porous diatomite surface draws moisture away from the feet on contact and evaporates it within minutes; the mat surface is ready for the next use in seconds, not hours
Non-slip backing — the underside has a non-slip treatment to prevent the mat sliding on smooth tile or bathroom flooring; grip depends on floor cleanliness and surface type; keep the floor and mat backing clean and dry for best performance
Printed botanical design — blue watercolour-style leaf and petal pattern on a white/cream base with teal and gold-green dot accents; the design repeats across the full surface; dark border edge finishes the mat neatly; a decorative pattern that works in modern, Scandi, coastal and botanical-themed bathrooms
5 sizes available — from a compact 16×24” (ideal for in front of a single shower or sink) up to a full runner at 24×60” (covers the full length beside a bath); select the size that suits your bathroom layout from the variant options
Easy to clean — wipe with a damp cloth for everyday cleaning; if water absorption slows after extended use, lightly sand the surface with 400-grit sandpaper to restore the pores; do not machine wash or immerse in water
Size Guide
16×24” (approx. 41×61cm): Compact; ideal for in front of a single shower cubicle, sink, or toilet; suitable for small en-suites and cloakrooms
17×32” (approx. 43×81cm): Standard bath mat size; suits most shower exits and bath step-outs
24×48” (approx. 61×122cm): Large; covers a wide shower or the full step-out area of a bath; good for family bathrooms
17×59” (approx. 43×150cm): Narrow runner format; ideal alongside a freestanding or built-in bath
24×60” (approx. 61×152cm): Wide runner; maximum coverage alongside a bath or in a large bathroom; the size shown in the main lifestyle image
Care Instructions
Wipe the surface with a damp cloth to remove surface dirt and soap residue.
Do not machine wash, submerge in water, or tumble dry.
If absorption slows noticeably, lightly sand the surface with fine-grit sandpaper (400-grit) in circular motions; rinse off the dust and allow to dry fully before use.
Store flat — do not lean diatomite slab mats at an angle for extended periods as they can crack.
Handle with care — diatomite stone can chip or crack if dropped.
Safety Notes
Non-slip backing performance varies by floor type and condition; keep floor and mat backing clean for best grip.
The mat is rigid and heavy — ensure it lies completely flat to eliminate trip risk at the edges.
Handle carefully during installation — the slab can crack if dropped or flexed.
