Important Care Notes

• Handle gets hot: the cast iron handle conducts heat — always use an oven glove or cloth when handling a hot pan.
• Initial black flaking is normal: on first use, you may notice small black flakes. This is carbonised vegetable oil from the factory rust-prevention treatment — not a quality defect. Wash and season the pan before first use.
• Surface texture: cast iron is sand-mould cast, so the surface will have a slightly rough texture with minor pitting — this is inherent to the casting process and not a defect. The surface smooths and becomes more non-stick with regular seasoning and use.
• How to season: wash with warm water, dry thoroughly, apply a thin layer of cooking oil and heat on the hob or in the oven until the oil polymerises. Repeat 2–3 times before first use for best results.
• Cleaning: avoid soaking in water or putting in the dishwasher. Wash with warm water and a stiff brush; dry immediately and apply a light coat of oil to prevent rust.
